About us
Sail Boat Project is a workers co-operative, registered as a Community Interest Company, based in Brighton.
We’ve got a Hobie Cat on Brighton beach, a load of inflatable kayaks and a Westerly Renown yacht in Brighton marine that we use to offer sail and navigation training.
We aim to:
Offer people access to the UK's nearest wilderness – the sea.
Provide UK and international sail transport for individuals and groups involved in positive social change activities.
Support the development of a whole range of skills among people involved in the Project, like: sailing, groupwork, engine maintenance, navigation.
Be an example of sustainable sailing boat practice.

What we do
Education – arranging skill shares and trainings on subjects such as: using kayaks; understanding nautical charts; how to get into sailing; how to use almanacs and tide tables; introduction to marine biology.
Sail training and practice for co-op members – supporting members of the Co-operative to pass RYA (Royal Yachting Association) accredited practical and theory courses, aiming for the level of Yachtmaster, as well as regular sailing practice on our Hobie 16 catamaran based on Brighton beach.
Sail training and practice for others – networking access to a range of sailing opportunities, from putting interested sailors in touch with boat owners, through to arranging courses run by RYA-accredited instructors.
Sail Transport & Sail Holidays – we offer sail transport and sail holidays on our yacht ‘Karic’
